Partners Ergonomic Solutions and NBS Technologies Deploy Latest Generation of Physical Security Technology
Kensington Computer Products Group, a worldwide leader in delivering smart safe simple™ computing accessories, today announced the extension of its leading ClickSafe physical security technology beyond IT – to protect Point of Sale (POS) devices in retail environments, and to secure plastic card printers used to produce bank cards, drivers’ licenses, ID and building access cards.
Through new partnerships with retail equipment provider Ergonomic Solutions and plastic card printer manufacturer NBS Technologies, Kensington’s ClickSafe anti-theft technology will be integrated into the SpacePole retail mounting system, to ensure physical protection for vulnerable POS or Chip and PIN devices, and into for the NBS Javelin® printer model, a highly-portable plastic card printer.
The Kensington initiatives come at a time when High Street retailers are showing growing concern about fraud resulting from the theft of POS devices, especially those containing customer transaction data. Chip and PIN devices are small and easy to conceal, making them a target for opportunistic theft, and leaving retailers vulnerable to profit loss, while their customers are susceptible to fraud and identity theft.
Meanwhile thieves are also targeting portable plastic card printers to produce fraudulent bank cards, drivers’ licenses, ID and building access cards that are then sold on the black market.
Kensington, which pioneered the development of physical security solutions for mobile IT devices, now extends the trusted ClickSafe range of physical locks to provide reliable and easy-to-use protection for Chip & PIN machines and card printers. The availability of a Kensington ClickSafe Security Anchor provides the opportunity to physically lock devices, protecting them against theft – but without compromising easy access for the customer.
