A: Yes, the SD4880P dock works with computing devices (ex: laptops, tablets, 2-in-1’s, etc.) that have at least one available USB-C® port.

Q: Does the SD4880P charge my laptop and connected accessories?

A: Yes, the SD4880P can support laptop charging up to 100W and has a total of 10 USB ports for charging connected accessories (4 high-power USB-C® ports, including one up to 30W fast charging port that is ideal for smartphones, tablets, etc., three 15W ports that are ideal for portable SSDs, smartwatches, Bluetooth speakers, etc., and six 4.5W USB-A ports that are ideal for keyboards, mice, webcams, thumb drives, and other peripherals.

Q: Can I charge my phone or devices with this dock even when the host port is not connected to the laptop?

A: Yes, the ‘Plug and Charge’ feature allows you to keep your accessories charging even when the host laptop is not connected.

Q: What operating systems does this dock support?

A: The SD4880P supports Windows 10 or above.

Q: Does the SD4880P dock require software like DisplayLink?

A: No, the SD4880P is plug and play with no software required.

Q: Is the SD4880P dock compatible with computers that have a Thunderbolt™ 3 or 4 port?

A: Yes, the SD4880P docking station is compatible with laptops featuring Thunderbolt™ 3 and Thunderbolt™ 4 ports. Please note that while it will not utilize the full Thunderbolt™ 3 or 4 bandwidth (40Gbps), it will provide the maximum docking station bandwidth of 10Gbps, which is more than sufficient for most business users—allowing them to connect multiple peripherals, transfer files, and stream highdefinition content without any noticeable delays.

Q: Can I use this dock with a gaming laptop?

A: It is not recommended, as this dock is not designed for gaming laptops. You may experience a drop in performance if the dock becomes overloaded.

Q: What if my device has a USB-C® port but it doesn’t support DisplayPort™ Alt Mode?

A: If your USB-C® port doesn’t support Alt Mode, then you will not receive video output. If this is the case, one of our USB-A or Hybrid USB-A/USB-C® DisplayLink docks would work better for you.

Q: What if my device has a USB-C® port but it doesn’t support Power Delivery (PD)?

A: If your USB-C port doesn’t support PD, the dock will work provide video and data (including audio and Ethernet), but it will not be able charge the laptop or connected accessories.

Q: Does this SD4880P dock support USB Power Delivery (PD)?

A: Yes, the SD4880P supports PD 3.0 (up to 100W of laptop charging).

Q: How many monitors does the SD4880P dock support and what is the maximum resolution supported?

A: The SD4880P supports up to four monitors. For advanced users with premium laptops, this dock supports resolutions of up to a single 8K @ 30Hz or quad 4K @ 30Hz with DP1.4 HBR3 DSC enabled. For professional users with commercial laptops, typical resolutions include a single 4K @ 60Hz or quad 1080p @ 30Hz.

Q: Does this SD4880P support a high refresh rate?

A: Yes, the SD4880P supports up to single 1080p @ 240Hz and can also support quad 1080p @ 120Hz with DP1.4 HBR3 DSC enabled.

Q: What if I have a mix of monitor brands and encounter issues with setting up quad displays?

A: Compatibility issues can arise due to the diverse range of monitors available in the market, each with its own specifications. We’ve identified that users with Nvidia GPU with driver version 31.0.15.3713 or later may experience compatibility problems. To resolve this, we recommend downgrading to an earlier version of the driver for optimal results. We understand that troubleshooting compatibility can be challenging. That’s why we suggest downloading DockWorks v1.3, which allows you to export your setup data. With this information, we can analyze your configuration and provide the best solution to address compatibility issues across various monitor brands.
