It accommodates up to two Bluetooth devices and one wired device at a time. To simplify transitions between different setups, the switch also remembers the last eight input* (laptops, tablets, phones etc.) and eight output devices (headsets).*Input devices connected are shared across the two input channels (BT1 and BT2) on the Audio Switch.
The audio switch prioritizes the most recently paired devices. As new pairings are made, the older pairings beyond the maximum (8 input and 8 output) will be overwritten by the new pairings.
In Bluetooth mode, the Audio Switch searches for and connects to the most recently connected or active Bluetooth-enabled device.
The Audio Switch supports one active audio input line, per channel, at any given time. It is a threeport switch that supports three active inputs (laptops, phones, and tablets) and one active output (one headset - Wired or Bluetooth).
If a call comes in while you are listening to streaming music on your Bluetooth device, the audio will automatically pause when you switch to the wired device to answer the phone. When you end the call and switch back to the Bluetooth channel that was playing the music, the playback will resume.
In this scenario, the music will continue to play on the wired device, so we recommend that you pause the audio on the wired device before switching over to the Bluetooth device to answer the phone call.
Tip: Bluetooth is able to recognize when you have left a channel and will automatically pause music/audio when you switch away. However, a wired device is unaware that you have switched away, causing the music to continue to play until it is manually paused.
When the Mute button is pressed, a red LED indictor will illuminate to confirm that all microphone lines are muted through the Audio Switch. Press the Mute button again to unmute all lines.
The Kensington Audio Switch was designed specifically for headsets that contain an inline microphone. While it is possible within some devices, like laptops, to set the Audio Switch as the Speaker (Output) and another device as the Microphone (Input), this bypasses the mute functionality of the Audio Switch and results may vary from what the Audio Switch was designed to support.
While the Audio Switch can support Volume Up, Volume Down, and Mute functions on some headsets, support varies based on the headset. We recommend using the buttons provided on the Audio Switch to control these functions. Other specialty commands and features on your headset, such as touch controls, are not yet supported.
We recommend that you use the cable that came with your Audio Switch because it supports both Data and Power and has been verified to support the Audio Switch. If you elect to use a 3rd party USB-C cable, please note that results may vary due to length, quality, and material, and the cable must support both Data and Power to work with the Audio Switch.
Wired USB headsets will receive priority over the connected 3.5mm headset. If you would like to use a 3.5mm wired headset, you need to ensure the wired USB headset is not connected to the Audio Switch.
If a device leaves the area where the Audio Switch is located, the Audio Switch will automatically search for it for 120 seconds. If the device is not found within that time, the Audio Switch will stop looking for it, requiring you to select the Audio Switch again from your device’s Bluetooth settings to reestablish the Bluetooth connection.
On some devices, a period of inactivity with that device can cause the Bluetooth connection to disconnect. If this occurs, go to your device’s Bluetooth settings and select the “Kensington Audio Switch” again to reestablish the Bluetooth connection.
This is the sound of power flowing into the Audio Switch. Some headset PCBs have a capacitor in place to absorb this noise while others do not. We recommend removing your headset before connecting or disconnecting power from the Audio Switch.
Yes, when the Audio Switch is power cycled (i.e., power is removed from the Audio Switch and then reconnected) the audio output of the connected headset will reset to the default level.
No, you can only connect one audio output at a time to the Audio Switch. While you can pair different output devices to the Audio Switch, only one will function at a time.

On a Windows device, follow the below steps to manually set your Kensington headset as the default audio device:
1) Open the sound settings on your computer by clicking the “Sound” icon in your taskbar and selecting “Open Sound Settings” from the menu.
2) In the “Output and Input” sections, select your Kensington headset from the appropriate dropdown list.
Sidetone adjustments vary according to your operating system settings and may not be available across all operating systems. For factory-based Windows environments, follow the instructions below.
1) In Windows, open the Control Panel and select “Hardware and Sound”.
2) Select “Sound”.
3) From the “Playback” tab, select the Kensington headset you would like to adjust and click “Properties”.
4) From the “Levels” tab, adjust the level of the sidetone. If you cannot hear your own voice, increase the level of sidetone. If you hear too much of your voice, decrease the level of sidetone. Click “Apply” to save your changes.
1) Insert the USB-C connector to the front USB port of the Audio Switch. Go to your computer’s sound settings [JUMP LINK TO QUESTION 1] and select “Kensington Audio Switch” as the audio source.
NOTE: When using your Kensington headset with the Audio Switch, you will control the mute/unmute and volume through the Kensington Audio Switch directly (i.e., the inline controls will be disabled).

Also known as wideband voice, High Definition (HD) voice provides clear and vibrant audio while reducing background noises in busy environments. HD voice helps your listeners hear you as clearly as possible.
The busy light will automatically illuminate when the microphone is activated. You may also manually turn the busy light on and off. Pressing the button once will cause the LED to manually illuminate as a solid red LED light. Pressing and holding it for 2 seconds will cause the red LED light to pulse/blink. Pressing it again in either status (solid or pulse) will cause the LED to be manually turned off. The busy light is seen on your in-line controls and on the back of the microphone so colleagues can see that you are busy.
The H1000 does not come with the adapter but it can be used with one that is purchased separately.

Some devices have built-in microphone apps that require additional input from the headset. If your system isn’t responding when pressing the mute button once, try pressing it two times when muting or unmuting.

The below steps will help you manually set your Kensington headset as the default audio device within your operating system. You will select H3000 Headset Stereo for music and streaming and H3000 Headset Hands-Free AG Audio for calls and video conferencing.
1) Open the sound settings on your computer by clicking the “Sound” icon in your taskbar or selecting “Open Sound Settings” from the menu.
a. For Music and Streaming
From the “Select playback device” dropdown menu, select H3000 Headset Stereo. This allows the H3000 to be recognised as a playback device for music and streaming.
b. For Calls and Video Conferencing
From the “Select playback device” dropdown menu, select H3000 Headset Hands-Free AG Audio. This allows the H3000 to be recognised as a communication device for calls and video conferencing.
TIP: Make sure the H3000 Headset Hands-Free AG Audio is selected on both your device’s OS sound settings and as the default device in your call or meeting platform.
2) In the “Output and Input” sections of your OS, select H3000 Headset Stereo for music and streaming or H3000 Headset Hands-Free AG Audio for calls and video conferencing in both your “Speaker” and “Microphone” drop-down menus.
Keep the status on your meeting platform set to unmute and use the flip-to-mute microphone on your H3000 to control your mute status. The flip-to-mute function on your H3000 will function as intended - simply flip to mute and down to unmute.
Sidetone is the audio feedback of your voice that you will hear when speaking into the microphone. Sidetone helps you know how you are being heard by others on the call. On H3000 sidetone will be enabled once the microphone is enabled. You can manually enable/disable the sidetone by pressing the central button on the earcup three times, but the sidetone setting will return to default when the headset is powered off and powered on again. Currently H3000 sidetone level cannot be adjusted.
If you cannot connect your H3000 to a previously paired device, please try the following:
1) Make sure the H3000 and the host device you want to connect with are both powered on.
2) Open the Bluetooth menu on your host device and select the H3000 headset manually.
3) If your H3000 headset is not appearing in the Bluetooth menu, the headset has likely already connected to up to two other different phones, tablets or computers. You’ll have to disconnect at least one of the other devices to make another connection.
4) If you keep having trouble connecting to a device that already paired before, please try removing/forgetting the H3000 from the host device and do the pairing process again.
If you cannot find your H3000 headset in the dropdown list when pairing the headset with a host device via Bluetooth, please try the following to resolve:
1) Make sure your H3000 headset is in pairing mode (the status LED should flash fast in blue). If the headset is not in pairing mode, enter pairing mode by pressing the Bluetooth pairing button for 5 seconds (the Bluetooth pairing button is located next to the power switch on the earcup).
2) If your headset has paired with your device before, go to the Bluetooth paired device list on your host device and select the H3000 headset to reconnect.
3) Refresh the Bluetooth searching process on your host device by turning the Bluetooth settings on your device off and on again.
4) If the issue occurs only on certain devices, please update the operating system and drivers on those devices to the latest version to ensure Bluetooth works properly.
No, the USB-C cable included is for charging only and does not support any data or audio transferring.
Your headset should automatically reconnect if the Bluetooth signal is lost during a call. If the headset is not automatically reconnecting, try refreshing the connection by powering your headset off and on again. If this doesn’t resolve the issue, you may need to refresh the Bluetooth searching process on your host device:
1) Set your host device to Airplane mode.
2) Wait for 5-10 seconds and then switch Airplane mode off.
3) If your headset still doesn’t reconnect automatically, open the Bluetooth list on your host devices and tap H3000 headset from the list of available devices.
The H3000 has a flip-to-mute microphone. Simply flip the boom mic up to mute, and down to unmute. The Voice Guidance will confirm whether the headset is muted or unmuted.
You can activate Voice Assistance by pressing the Bluetooth pairing button twice or saying “Hey Siri” or “OK Google” into your H3000 microphone.
The H3000 supports HFP (Hands-free Profile), A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile) and AVDTP (Audio/Video Distribution Transport Profile).
Yes, you can use the central button on the H3000 earcup to answer, reject or end a call:
1) Incoming calls
• Press for 1 second to answer the call
• Press for 2 seconds to reject the call
2) During a call
• Press for 1 second to end the call
Note:This works for general HFP calls and Microsoft Teams calls but might not work for call services provided by other meeting or calling applications.
The H3000 currently supports AES128, SHA256 and TRNE (True Random Number Generator).
The H3000 has been tested under MIL-STD-810H-2019 with a pass result. The surfaces of the H3000 can be cleaned using any of the following:

Note: When the LED located on the earcup flashes red, the battery life is lower than 10%.
When you are not actively using the H3000, it will immediately enter Bluetooth Sniff Mode to preserve battery life.
The H3000 can deliver up to 60+ hours of battery life for music and up to 40+ hours for talk with the busy light off and the volume set to 50%. The actual battery life will vary by use. With the busy light on and the volume set to 50%, the H3000 can deliver up to 30 hours of battery life for music and up to 29 hours for talk.
Usually if the call comes from landline or your cellphone, music will be paused and resumed when the call is over, but such behaviour may vary by media player used for music playing.
When there’re no paired devices around, or when the Bluetooth connection is lost for a while, the H3000 will automatically enter pairing mode. The following message will appear if Swift Pair is enabled on these devices. Simply press “Connect” to keep the pairing active.
No, H3000 supports Classic Audio.
The H3000 can support up to 30 meters of working distance when your device and the headset are within line of sight with no obstacles. This will vary by use and computing conditions. If your computer or mobile devices don’t support Bluetooth Class One, the working distance will be limited to under 10 meters.
You can connect the H3000 to the Kensington Audio Switch using the built-in Bluetooth functionality:
1) Press the Bluetooth pairing button on the H3000 (hold it for about 5 seconds until it is fast flashing in blue)
2) Press the Headset button on Audio Switch for 2 seconds to enter pairing mode (fast flashing in blue). Once paired, the LED on the headset button of the Audio Switch will turn solid blue and the status indicator on H3000 will flash blue slowly.
3) Go to your computer’s sound settings page and select “Kensington Audio Switch” for audio input/output.
TIPS: Muting/Unmuting
When using your Kensington headset with the Audio Switch, mute/unmute and volume adjustment will be controlled through Kensington Audio Switch directly. For mute and unmute function please see below matrix for the behaviour.
The microphone is unmuted when both the Audio Switch and the H3000 are unmuted. Under all other circumstances the microphone will be muted.
Volume Control
When using the H3000 with the Audio Switch, pressing the volume button on the H3000 earcup can still adjust the volume on the H3000 but the volume bar shown on the application will only be synchronised with the volume adjustment buttons on the Audio Switch.
