Kensington Advances Sustainability Initiatives with Launch of Eco-Friendly Backpacks, Cases, and Input Devices at CES 2024.
LAS VEGAS – January 8, 2024 – Kensington, a worldwide leader of desktop computing and mobility solutions for IT, business, and home office professionals, showcased its dedication to reducing its environmental impact through the launch of a portfolio of eco-friendly backpacks and laptop cases at Pepcom’s Digital Experience! media event at CES® 2024. The company also announced the addition of several new input devices to its family of eco-conscious products.
In order to reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in landfills and the environment, Kensington is not only incorporating post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic into an increasing number of new products but has announced that it is also upgrading several existing products to include PCR plastic.
Backpacks and Cases Provide Eco-friendly Solutions for Commuting Professionals
Designed for the daily commuter, Kensington’s new Eco-friendly 14” Backpack is made from 4.6 250ml ocean-bound plastic bottles and includes 24% PCR polyester, while the Eco-friendly 16” Backpack is made with 8.4 250ml ocean-bound plastic bottles and includes 24% PCR polyester. The stylish, compact, and lightweight backpacks feature padded shoulder straps that offer support for the neck and shoulders, coated and breathable mesh fabric for style and comfort, and include a trolley strap to secure them to rolling luggage. The Eco-friendly 14” and 16” Backpacks provide an internal padded compartment that fits laptops up to 14” and 16” (respectively) and space for files and accessories, include a front zippered pocket for quick access to essentials, and a side pocket for an umbrella or water bottle.
The Kensington Eco-friendly 16” Clamshell Laptop Case includes 25% PCR polyester and is made with 10.4 250ml ocean-bound plastic bottles. The easy-to-access, versatile clamshell design incorporates a TSA-friendly laptop compartment and includes a trolley strap for securing the case to rolling luggage. The case features padded shoulder straps for comfort, and an internal padded compartment that fits laptops up to 16” and provides space for files and accessories. A front zippered pocket provides quick access to essentials.
The Kensington Eco-friendly 12”, 14”, and 16” Sleeves include 32%, 33%, and 33% PCR polyester (respectively) and are made from 4.4, 4.6, and 4.8 250ml ocean-bound plastic bottles (respectively). Designed for travel and protection for laptops and tablets up to 12”, 14”, and 16”, the new laptop sleeves feature padded compartments and a minimalistic outer design constructed with high-quality zippers and stitching. The sleeves easily slide into one of the eco-friendly backpacks or clamshell carrying cases and incorporates a zippered front compartment for accessories.
All of the new backpacks, cases, and laptop sleeves feature two-year limited warranties and will be available in early Q2 2024.
Rechargeable Keyboard and Mice Increase Productivity, Eliminate Need for Alkaline Batteries
The Kensington Pro Fit® Ergo KB675 TKL Rechargeable Keyboard, which includes 65% PCR material and utilizes plastic-free packaging, features an ergonomic sculpted design that helps reduce strain on wrists and arms to increase productivity and reduce the risk of repetitive strain injuries (RSIs). Compatible with Windows or macOS, the KB675 features Swift Pair Technology to make device connection quick and easy and offers three connectivity options – two lightning-fast Bluetooth® connections and one 2.4GHz connection with 128-bit encryption.
The keyboard incorporates vibrant LED indicators that make it easy to monitor connection status, caps lock and battery life. The built-in 500mAh rechargeable battery is charged conveniently via a USB-C® charging port, providing long battery life, and eliminating the need for disposable alkaline batteries. A non-detachable wrist pad offers enhanced comfort and front keyboard legs provide ergonomic support during extensive work hours. Kensington Konnect™ software enables customization of keyboard functions for even more versatility and convenience.
The new Kensington MY430 Dual Wireless 6 Key Silent Rechargeable Mouse and MY630 Dual Wireless Ergo Rechargeable Mouse each include 65% PCR ABS and utilize plastic-free packaging. Both the MY430 and MY630 support seamless multi-device connectivity via one 2.4GHz receiver and two Bluetooth® Low Energy connections with security provided by 128-bit AES government-grade encryption. Compatible with Windows, macOS, and Chrome, the mice feature high-definition optical sensors with three DPI settings (1000/1600/2400), whisper-quiet clicking, convenient dongle storage, and long-lasting rechargeable batteries. KensingtonWorks™ software enables the users to personalize five programmable buttons, providing one-click access to common tasks to enhance productivity and efficiency.
The MY430 features the traditional mouse design while the MY630 incorporates a vertical form factor with an ergonomic tilt that places the hand in a neutral handshake posture during usage to provide a more comfortable experience over extended use. The MY630 also features a metal scroll wheel for precise scrolling.

New Docking Stations Increase Productivity and Become More Eco-Friendly
The new SD4880P USB-C® 10Gbps Quad Video 17-in-1 Driverless Dock, SD4781P USB-C® & USB-A Dual 4K Docking Station, and SD4782P USB-C® & USB-A Dual 4K Docking Station include 73% PCR plastics in their housings. The new docks enhance workflow and increase productivity while promoting a clutter-free workspace.
The SD4880P docking station, which is compatible with Thunderbolt™ 4, Thunderbolt™ 3, USB4®, and USB-C® laptops, is one of the first USB-C® docks to support up to four external monitors (Quad 4K @ 30Hz). The plug-and-play dock incorporates four high-power USB-C® and six USB-A ports that deliver data transfer speeds up to 10Gbps, two HDMI® and two DisplayPort™ connections, a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port, SD card reader, and a combo audio jack. 100W dynamic power delivery enables connected accessories to charge without a host laptop connected.
The SD4781P and SD4782P docking stations work with the latest USB-C® Alt Mode and legacy USB-A laptops making them ideal for use in mixed technology environments. Both docks support up to two external Ultra HD monitors (4K @ 60Hz) via two HDMI® 2.0 and two DP++ 1.2 ports. In addition to a Gigabit Ethernet port and audio combo jack, the docks connect accessories at speeds up to 10Gbps via one USB-C® port and five USB-A ports and deliver up to 100W to power USB-C® Alt Mode laptops, the docking station and connected accessories. The SD4782P includes a 100W Power Splitter to power USB-A laptops.
